2010 US National Peruvian Horse Show
SEPTEMBER 25 & 26, 2010
GRADY COUNTY FAIRGROUND
CHICKASHA, OKLAHOMA
The USPHA is very pleased to announce that the dates and location of the 2010 US National Peruvian Horse Show have been scheduled for the weekend of September 25 & 26, 2010, at the Grady County Fairgrounds in Chickasha Oklahoma.
The exhibitors, staff and spectators at the recently concluded 2009 National Show at the Grady County facility in Chickasha were so pleased with the arena and horse facilities, hotel accommodations and rates, and the fact that all of the necessary amenities are so conveniently located close to the fairgrounds that it was agreed by all that the 2010 show should be held at the same location.
The 2009 US National Show was a great success with exhibitors, horses, and spectators attending from around the United States and Peru.
The innovative USPHA Class list beginning with the 3 miles in gait Prueba Funcional (test of function) requirement for all of the Breeding and Gait Division horses due to compete in the show in Bit at the beginning of the show and conducted as the first event in the show with show Judge the Honorable Charles Brooks of Simi Valley California present and observing in the arena was well received and respected by all; all horses successfully completed the Prueba and went on the compete in the show, therefore all horses which competed and place in the USPHA National Show earned a meaningful high accomplishment that was un-matched in the breed worldwide in 2009.
The brand new (for the breed) Division for Professional horse trainers was also very well received and provided for some very intense competition and enjoyment for spectators, including a beautiful spontaneous Barrida and Marinera to music display which thrilled the audience.
The Junior exhibitors were a wonderful and enthusiastic group of youngsters who are all very talented with their horses and they also provided the audience with an unscheduled performance of a Barrida and a Musical Exercise demo after receiving their High Point and Reserve High Point Awards.
The Pleasure Division was highly competitive and enjoyable to watch with some of the most skilled Amateur riders and owners and horses of the breed participating.
Perhaps the best aspects of the show were its exceptionally pleasant upbeat atmosphere and the spirit of the enjoyment of comaraderie in the Peruvian Horse which both the exhibitors and spectators provided to each other and all who were there. Exhibitors and spectators were enthusiastically and joyfully helping each other with horses and the various tasks involved in putting on the show.
Special thanks must be acknowledged to Judge Charles Brooks who did an outstanding job of conducting the classes in all Divisions with expertise and cordiality to all, and to his daughter Melissa who served with him as his Ring Steward and did a great job with style and grace.
Also must be recognized for tremendous thanks for all of the work they performed to make the show not only a success but also a very pleasant experience for all are Gary and Sandy Norman and their family members who performed all of the office functions for the show. Sandy Norman also arranged for the trophies (USPHA engraved cobalt blue glassware) and ribbons for the show which were some of the most beautiful ribbons and trophies ever seen in a Peruvian Horse show, especially the Champion of Champions chest medallion ribbons which were gorgeous and definitely will be treasured by those who earned them. Therefore plans are to repeat the same style of ribbons and trophies for 2010.
A reminder that the USPHA National Show in 2009 (and will be again in 2010) was the only National Peruvian Horse Show in the United States that was Open to all Peruvian Horses and which was also Open to all owners and exhibitors on an equal basis. It was also the only National Peruvian Horse Show in the world (exception Germany) with the highest standards and requirements for horses competing in Breeding and Gait Divisions in the Bit, via rules which require that all horses in bit in those Divisions must first complete the Test of Function (Prueba Funcional) at the start of the show; a demanding standard of excellence and special achievement for all of the Breeding and Gait horses which competed in the show. It is also the first and only Peruvian Horse Show in the United States to have an entire Division for Professionals only and also an Adult Horse in Bozal section with Specialty Award.
Everyone is very cordially invited----- please mark your calendars and make plans to join US in 2010 to enjoy the “Back to Basics and More” US National Peruvian Horse Show sponsored by the USPHA!!!
